The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF)

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF)

From September 18th to the 22nd 2013, more than 28,000 film buffs, art lovers, producers, and cartoon fans from around the world descend on the Nation’s capital for the world-renowned Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF).

Mission
The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is a division of the Canadian Film Institute, which was incorporated in 1935 and is the second oldest film institute in the world.

The aim of OIAF is to foster the development and growth of animation talent found in Canada. Our animators and animation companies are among the most creative and successful in the world. OIAF exists to help them achieve both artistic excellence and commercial success.

OIAF also seeks to provide a means of linking the regional, national and international animation communities; and provides an artistic and commercial forum wherein aesthetic and artistic excellence and commercial expertise can be shared and exchanged among these various communities.

OIAF wants to foster a greater appreciation among the public about the art and craft of animation.

Animation makes a unique contribution to both popular and high culture. We hope to create a greater awareness of, and appreciation for, animation's contribution among members of the public.
